Composite pressure vessels

Aims

We conducted a feasibility study to prove the cost and production volume capabilities of our technology, in the manufacture of type III, IV and V pressure vessels. The study compared these capabilities with the traditional filament winding manufacturing route.

Outcome

We developed a novel process to manufacture pressure vessels, which was superior to filament winding in terms of both cost and production volume.

We are developing our capabilities in this area further, for operating pressures up to 700bar.

"Quicker, cheaper and lighter to produce"

Potential

Our technology offers a significant opportunity to improve the efficiency, cost and carbon footprint of the production process for pressure vessels. It also reduces the environmental impact of the vessels when they reach the end of their life. LPG, CNG and Hydrogen are just a few of the substances that can be contained in our thermoplastic braided composite pressure vessels.
